Elliptic Labs’ AI sensor platform to launch on AMD devices

The software-only sensor platform will be bundled with AMD's Ryzen PRO 5000 series computers

In a new deal with AMD, Elliptic Labs is extending its AI Virtual Smart Sensor platform to select AMD Ryzen PRO 5000 Series laptops and PCs.

In combination with AMD systems, Elliptic Labs' smart sensor platform will help PC/laptop original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) implement features such as 3D touchless gesture recognition, heart rate and respiratory monitoring, motion detection, and more. 

With patented algorithms, machine learning tools, and sensor fusion capabilities, the software-only platform allows for enhanced user experience while also reducing dependency on precious-metal-based hardware sensors.

For instance, Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Presence Sensor for Laptops can determine when a person is sitting in front of or away from the screen. When seated away, the device can be configured to auto-lock or switch to Windows modern standby low-power mode.

Other notable features of Eliptical Labs’ AI Virtual Smart Sensor platform include 3D touchless gesture support with 180-degree field of view and sub-millimetre detection accuracy, virtual connection sensor for mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) devices for quick yet secure network authentication.
